Tooele County Home Loans

Tooele Valley, Utah home at sunset with an American flag and mountain views
Home in the Tooele Valley — where Kris lives and serves veteran homebuyers.

Tooele County has a unique connection to the military. Dugway Proving Ground and Tooele Army Depot are part of our community, and military members, Veterans, civilian employees, contractors, and visiting foreign allied military personnel are a familiar part of life here.

That military connection extends throughout the community — from Tooele’s Veterans Memorial Park to the Veterans Memorial in Grantsville and the many local families with ties to military service.

I’m Kristopher “Kris” Matyas, The Mortgage Rebel, a U.S. Army veteran and local Utah mortgage broker. I live here, I understand the community, and I understand the VA benefit from a Veteran’s perspective. Whether you’re buying in Tooele, Stansbury Park, Grantsville, or elsewhere in Tooele County, my job is to help you understand your financing options and make the right financial move — not simply get you approved for a mortgage.

Why Choose a VA Home Loan?

For eligible Veterans, active-duty service members, and surviving spouses, a VA home loan can offer some of the most powerful home financing benefits available — including the potential for no down payment, no monthly private mortgage insurance, competitive interest rates, and flexible qualification options.

But having a VA benefit doesn’t automatically mean every VA loan — or every lender — is the same. The goal is to understand your options, compare the numbers, and make sure you’re using your benefit in a way that makes sense for your financial situation.

More Than VA: The Right Loan for Your Situation

Every buyer’s situation is different. Depending on your eligibility, finances, property, and goals, we can explore VA, conventional, FHA, USDA, first-time homebuyer, and other financing options to determine what makes the most sense for you. Conventional and FHA financing can both be excellent options depending on your credit, down payment, income, property, and long-term goals. We’ll compare the numbers instead of automatically assuming one program is best.

Common VA Home Loan Questions

Do VA loans require a down payment?

Eligible borrowers can often purchase a home with no down payment using VA financing, subject to VA eligibility, lender requirements, and the details of the transaction.

Does the VA require a minimum credit score?

The VA itself does not establish a minimum credit score for its home loan guaranty. Individual lenders may establish their own credit requirements. As a mortgage broker, I can compare options across multiple lenders rather than relying on the requirements of just one bank or lender. That freedom allows me to help my fellow veterans with credit scores from 500 all the way up to 810+.

Can I use my VA home loan benefit more than once?

Yes. VA home loan benefits are reusable, and some Veterans may even have remaining entitlement while another VA loan is outstanding. Your available entitlement and the specifics of the new purchase determine your options.

Can a VA loan be used for a home in Tooele County?

Yes. Eligible borrowers can use VA financing to purchase qualifying primary residences throughout Tooele County, including Tooele, Stansbury Park, Grantsville, and surrounding communities.
