PCSing to Utah? Find Your BAH. Explore Your Housing Options.

Your duty location is the starting point. Your gate, work schedule, household budget, and everyday travel help determine which Utah communities are worth a closer look.

Start with the official BAH lookup

BAH rates depend on your authorized duty location, pay grade, and dependent status—not years in service. Select the correct year, enter your duty-location ZIP code, choose your pay grade, and use the with-dependents or without-dependents result that applies to you. Confirm your entitlement and any special circumstances with your finance office.

Check Your BAH — Official DoD Lookup

The official lookup opens in a new tab. Return to this tab to compare mortgage payments or get pre-approved.

No copied rate tables or guessed allowance amounts here. BAH does not determine mortgage eligibility or promise that all housing expenses will be covered.

Know your Utah duty location

Camp Williams

A Utah National Guard training installation at the Point of the Mountain, with its public address in Bluffdale. Confirm the entrance and building named in your orders.

Official Camp Williams information →

Tooele Army Depot

A separate installation in Tooele County, southwest of Salt Lake City. It is not Dugway. Route your trip to the depot’s actual reporting location.

Official depot information →

Dugway Proving Ground

A remote West Desert installation. Start with its housing office and command guidance; a town near Tooele Army Depot is not automatically a practical Dugway commute.

Other assignments include Utah Air National Guard duty in the Salt Lake area, Army aviation in West Jordan, and Guard and Reserve facilities across the state. See our military communities guide; your unit’s current reporting instructions take priority over a general location guide.

Explore both sides of the Salt Lake–Utah County corridor. These are civilian communities, not designated military family housing. Compare the exact address to your assigned gate at the time you would actually travel.

Lehi / Traverse Mountain

Explore Lehi’s residential areas and Traverse Mountain near major transportation corridors. Check the route from the individual neighborhood to Camp Williams; highway access does not eliminate rush-hour delays.

Bluffdale

Worth exploring for households working near Camp Williams. Compare available home types, HOA obligations, and the drive to your actual work site—not just the distance to the installation boundary.

Saratoga Springs

Look at Utah Lake-area neighborhoods and newer construction. Review builder timelines, property-specific taxes, HOA dues, and travel along the north Utah County road network.

Eagle Mountain

Explore established neighborhoods and newer developments in western Utah County. The city covers a broad area: compare each address’s routes to Camp Williams, shopping, and other household destinations.

Nearby developments: what is verified?

Holbrook Farms, Lehi: Lehi’s development documents identify boundaries alongside Camp Williams. Its community association describes it as a master-planned community in northern Lehi. It is a nearby civilian neighborhood to explore; we have not verified any military-only eligibility, military housing designation, or formal military housing partnership.

Independence at the Point and Day Ranch, Bluffdale: City documents identify these residential areas and their parks. They are additional civilian neighborhoods to compare in Bluffdale, rather than verified military housing communities.

Being near Camp Williams does not establish a military affiliation. Confirm the specific home’s route to your assigned entrance, HOA rules and costs, current availability, and nearby training activity before making a decision.

Camp Williams is an active training site. Ask about training noise and nearby road projects when evaluating a home. Do not rely on a map’s straight-line distance or a future road opening.

Layton & Clearfield

Compare residential options and routes to the base’s south and west sides. The most useful route depends on your duty building, current gate access, and shift.

Syracuse

Explore housing west of the base and compare travel through connecting city streets. Allow for peak traffic and your household’s other daily trips.

Roy & Clinton

Consider neighborhoods along the west and northwest approaches. Review gate schedules and the full commute before committing to a lease or purchase.

Hill’s official newcomer page distinguishes local rentals and purchases from privatized on-base housing operated by Boyer Hill Military Housing. Contact the Hill Housing Management Office about eligibility, availability, and your reporting requirements before signing.

Tooele Valley

Where to live near Tooele Army Depot

Tooele

Start with homes in the depot’s local area, then compare the actual route to your reporting entrance and everyday services.

Grantsville

Explore options in the western valley. Check the full route to the depot and other destinations important to your household.

Stansbury Park

Compare neighborhood amenities, HOA or community charges where applicable, and travel south toward the depot.

Lake Point

Consider its northern valley location when balancing depot access with trips toward the Salt Lake area. Verify traffic patterns for your work hours.

These are civilian housing options. This guide does not represent current listings, availability, or an official housing assignment.

Dugway: plan for distance and housing rules

The Army describes Dugway as roughly 50 miles from Tooele and around 90 miles from Salt Lake City. Weather, rural roads, wildlife, gate access, and the location of your work site can materially affect travel.

Dugway’s official housing guidance states its housing is government-owned and managed, and BAH does not apply to soldiers there. Military OneSource says military personnel are required to live on post. Confirm the current requirement and any exceptions with your command and housing office; do not assume you can use BAH for an off-post mortgage.

Civilian employees and contractors should ask about their own housing eligibility and practical travel options. Nearby on a regional map does not mean an easy daily commute.

Information checked October 10, 2026. Community descriptions are starting points for your own search, not promises about commute times, prices, availability, or suitability. Mortgage Rebel and Barrett Financial Group are independent of the military and VA.

Verify your VA funding fee exemption

Veterans receiving VA disability compensation for a service-connected disability are generally exempt from the VA funding fee. A 0% disability rating alone does not establish an exemption. Other exemptions may apply. Your exemption status must be verified through VA.
